Be Aware of Phishing and Scam Emails!

Most people have heard news about the many breaches in company security caused by the inadvertent clicking of a malicious link.  Many people were affected by the result of a malware attack on CrowdStrike that affected millions of companies including many top tiered airlines.

As many of you noticed, our very own Reverend Annie’s identity was compromised in an email seeking help in a manner that was suspicious. If the e-mail domain isn’t from stpaulsbenicia.org, it’s a fraudulent account. Here are a couple of very simple practices you can do to avoid being affected by the bad actors that exist among us!

  • Please be extra vigilant about any emails you receive, both professionally and personally, especially if they claim to be a bank or travel site or anything requiring you to make immediate changes.
  • Always check the domain of the sender’s email address to see that it matches the company.
  • Monitor your financial accounts; if you see any unauthorized activity, please get in touch with your bank.
  • Please don’t click on links or open attachments in the email from an unknown sender.
  • If you receive an external email related to your personal financial bank or business, please contact your contact person by phone to verify its legitimacy.
  • Please don’t enter your banking credentials if you click on the links or open the attachments.
